Job Description:

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our microservices based data analytics platform, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The Senior Software Engineer will work with business and technical stakeholders to ensure optimal delivery of data and functionality is achieved throughout ongoing projects. The Senior Software Engineer will mentor and coach other engineers as they carry out development, ensuring they are provided with clear architectural guidance.

Job Accountabilities

50% Develop technically superior software solutions for Vidence

  • Help teams make sound technical decisions grounded in best practices and design patterns
  • Execute processes (e.g., peer code reviews, coding standards, etc.) that ensure that high quality software is consistently produced
  • Design, implement, and maintain software systems and own the SDLC

20% Maintain knowledge of modern software development techniques in a healthcare environment. Topics include:

  • DevOps/Containers, CI/CD
  • Secure computing (working with PHI)
  • Cloud computing
  • Serverless computing
  • Algorithms, data structures, distributed systems
  • Big data

20% Lead Projects

  • Design forward looking solutions to high priority business needs
  • Decompose work into executable units that can be delivered in a timely and agile manner
  • Establish an innovative and creative technology environment
  • Strive to raise everybody’s game, including your own

10% Mentor Stakeholders

  • An encourager that mentors other developers and helps them with the prioritization and execution of their assignments
  • High achiever that ensures all work meets the design requirements, adheres to style guidelines, and standard methodologies
  • Thrives on brainstorming with other technical leaders to design, modify, and extend software systems

Education/Experience Level

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering or at least ten years working as a professional software developer is required. Master’s degree is desirable.
  • 10 years of experience of hands on software product development on a variety of platforms

Knowledge and Skills ?

  • 10+ years working with software languages, including recent experience in Java, Scala, and Spring
  • 5+ years working with AWS
  • 5+ years working with relational and non-relational databases, e.q. SqlServer, DynamoDB
  • Experience using big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, EMR
  • Experience using streaming technologies like Kafka
  • Experience building microservices and serverless solutions with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Lambda, etc.
  • Experience integrating Enterprise Information Systems with software solutions, e.g. Active Directory, CRM, billing systems
  • Expert-level knowledge of DevOps practices
  • Ability to design, document, communicate, and implement software solutions
  • Strong background in algorithms, data structures, operating systems, distributed computing
  • Experience working with Healthcare data is a big plus, including understanding of PHI and HIPAA, familiarity with coding standards such as SNOMED-CT, ICD9/10, RxNorm, LOINC, etc.
