Job Overview

The Manager, Market Analytics, oversees the analytics and insights for the market intelligence and strategy function by partnering with leaders across the Hospitals and Commercial organizations.  This individual will be at the forefront to inform and provide analytical insights and acquire market intelligence that he/she uses to assist with the development of strategic recommendations to enhance our business model and core business processes, leveraging proprietary and public datasets.  He/she contributes significantly to the achievement of our growth initiatives by providing actionable recommendations based on assessments of existing and potential markets in the Hospital and Commercial businesses.  This individual demonstrates the ability to formulate and build plans that reflect an understanding of the core business needs and identify opportunities in the market.  Demonstrating a thorough understanding of our systems and analytics, he/she plays a lead role in ensuring core systems support our business needs.  This position acts as an advocate to ensure quality and timeliness of department deliverables and provides leadership within the team, department, and organization. 

Job Responsibilities

30%| Analytical insights and innovation: The manager is expected to provide direct support to senior leadership, providing visibility into data-driven insights that inform the business’s strategic direction.  Provides significant analytical insights that he/she derives through various reports and research to understand key market insights. Uses these insights to develop creative, innovative business solutions intended to drive business growth.  Leads the reporting and analysis functions associated with such market intelligence needs.  Works with leaders to understand business problems, proactively shape the research agenda and bring the right insights to further growth strategies and oversees analytical studies.  Topics of focus include (but are not limited to) market studies, physician referral analysis, network productivity and market scenario analysis.

30%| Analytical reporting:  Oversees the reporting and analysis functions for Market Intelligence program.  Ensure the availability, accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of daily/weekly/monthly reports.  Responsible for continuous market opportunity scans.   Works with business leaders to identify emerging reporting needs.  Use appropriate software tools to retrieve, edit, and tabulate data from various databases and files.  Develop models and repeatable analytic tools to mature use and creation of data products.  Furthermore, the Manager should provide thought leadership in the designing and recommending appropriate analytical approaches and methodologies creating market intelligence best practices so we can more consistently represent ourselves to key stakeholders and new business partners.

30%|  Vendor Management:  Responsible for managing relationships with data, reporting and consulting vendors relevant to the Market Intelligence function.  Create and maintain technical documentation such as data dictionaries, business glossaries, metric definitions, and other data resources to support ongoing business programs. Remain current with technological and analytical methods.  Perform as an advisor to both the business and technical teams in support of the administration of associated data systems supporting the program initiatives.

10%|   Leadership and Management: Manage staff setting annual goals, talent development, and driving innovation and efficiency in the pursuit of better service to our customers.  Mentor and manage team of analysts of variable skill and practice levels. Prioritize teamwork, manage customer expectations and relationships, and maintain alignment of deliverables with organization analytic needs. Manages relations with related consultants and vendors.  Demonstrate strong leadership and coaching skills and work to grow and develop stakeholders.  Act at an ‘expert’ in market research and strategy and provide guidance and training to others on the team to execute research. Identify ways to enhance the Market Intelligence work environment and to promote stakeholder loyalty.

Skills, Education and Additional Information

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Analytics, or a relevant field.
  • Relevant graduate degree desirable.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in analytics-related roles, experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with market research/data analysis, insight generation and reporting.
  • 2 or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare practices, concepts, and policies desirable.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well in team settings.
  • Demonstrates strength in problem-solving and analytics and capable of driving insight from data
  • Experience in project oversight from design to implementation using project management methodology.
  • Previous multi-tiered management expertise including the ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiatives.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project.
  • Experience in writing SQL
  • Experience with using Tableau, QlikView, or similar software preferred
  • Solid communication skills that will provide the ability to work with cross-functional units to enhance and improve business processes and new patient acquisition.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills including the ability to translate information to a variety of audiences.
  • Manage, coach, lead and mentor team members and inter-disciplinary initiatives participants and contributors.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to achieve initiative and organizational goals.
