Job Overview

The Director, Talent/HR is responsible for managing Talent operations including delivery of services, programs and initiatives related to recruitment, performance management, compensation, leadership development and training, employee relations, succession planning, Stakeholder engagement, and legal and regulatory compliance. This leader is additionally responsible for the day-to-day management and development of the Talent and Occupational Health teams.

Job Accountabilities

Talent Strategy (25%)

  • Assess, evaluate, and fully understand the talent requirements of the business divisions of the hospital. Provide forward-looking, talent counsel to business leaders, focused on business and workforce priorities.
  • Understand key business issues and their connectivity to broader Talent initiatives and activities.
  • Participate in monthly Board preparation and analysis in support of Talent VP.
  • Complete annual budget preparation for review with Finance.
  • Serve as backup for Talent VP in meetings including Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, MPR, Talent Leadership Team, and other areas as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance to legal and regulatory Human Resources requirements as well as Joint Commission standards.

Stakeholder Relations (40%)

  • Lead and guide a team of Talent Partners and Occupational Health RNs to form collaborative relationships with the business divisions they support in order to deliver effective human resource/occ health services.
  • Investigate problems, disciplinary actions, and stakeholder concerns. According to circumstances, provide guidance and recommendations for problem resolution to department leaders and individuals.
  • Work with corporate Talent and Legal to ensure policies and procedures are accurate, fair, and consistent.
  • Oversee maintenance of the Talent portion of the Ellucid policy management system.
  • Oversee employee relations including, but not limited to, counseling managers and employees on the interpretation of company’s policies and procedures.
  • Present Talent initiatives to leaders at monthly Department Leader meetings and in other settings as appropriate.
  • Serve as a consultant to other leadership on a variety of Talent-related issues.
  • Collaborate with CTCA counterparts; participate in enterprise projects, Workday and other HRIS business processes.

Workforce Alignment (25%)

  • Operationalize the Talent strategy and ensure that recruitment and selection activities and decisions are aligned to the needs of the organization.
  • Participate in the Talent Resource Committee.

Consulting (10%)

  • Represent the organization to outside government and accreditation agencies on Talent matters (TJC, EEOC, outside counsel, etc).
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading literature and by attending related seminars, conferences and the like.

Education/Experience Level

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required (Recruitment and Selection, Employee Relations, Employee Compensation, Organization Development, Leadership and Culture, Engagement, Reward and Recognition, Computer Science, Business or related field, preferred.)
  • Master’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred (Recruitment and Selection, Employee Relations, Employee Compensation, Organization Development, Leadership and Culture, Engagement, Reward and Recognition, Computer Science, Business or related field, preferred.)
  • Approximately ten years progressively responsible related work experience, with at least two years in healthcare experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, analysis, organization, planning and presentation skills
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office with emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint preferred
  • Society for Human Resource Management certification; PHR or SPHR preferred
