Job Description:

Reporting directly to the SVP, Enterprise Analytics, the Director leads CTCA’s decision support function, responsible for all advanced analytics and insights generation needed to support the mission, strategies, and goals of CTCA-owned hospitals and clinics.

The Director leads a fast-paced, cross-functional team of analysts with a diverse and expanding portfolio of projects and analyses.  As such, the Director is expected to manage the daily activities of the team, manage the team’s portfolio of projects, prioritize work, and delegate assignments.  He/she is also responsible for working collaboratively with the team and their constituents to develop analytics roadmaps with key milestones and deliverables for each project.  Furthermore, the Director should provide direction related to the design and recommendations of appropriate analytical approaches and methodologies.  Outside of the team, this individual is responsible for organizing and assembling teams, technology, and other resources across CTCA to facilitate and optimize the team’s analytical efforts. 

The role of the Director is highly collaborative.  The Director is expected to provide direct management support to senior leadership, providing visibility into data-driven insights that inform the business’s strategic direction and critical KPIs.  He/she is also expected to work closely with site-level executives, service-line leaders, and department managers in making strategic, data-driven decisions.  This individual will often be included in executive level meetings or decision making and will be expected to make decisions and recommendations for large-scale projects, typically including multiple functional areas.  These decisions will generally have a significant impact on costs and/or the achievement of organizational goals. 

Most importantly, the Director is responsible for building an engaged and highly effective team.  The Director will provide leadership, motivation, coaching and mentorship to a team of highly talented analysts.  He/she should foster a culture among the team that emphasizes the importance of insight-generation, collaboration, creativity, and the importance of creating meaningful narratives through analysis and data visualization.

Job Responsibilities ?

20%| Provide leadership and day-to-day management of an analytics team, build and expand project portfolio, track and report on project progress and metrics.  Directly develop, coach, mentor and manage analysts in day-to-day interactions with analytics customers, develop and maintain contact with top decision makers, participate in executive meetings and decision-making sessions.

40%| Proactively develop and deliver actionable insights and recommendations for the following:

  • "Unit Level Economics"
  • KPI and leading indicators
  • Pharmacy margin
  • Physician Corporation operations
  • Human Resources analytics
  • Operational Finance

10%| Lead CTCA data strategy improvement by partnering with Enterprise Analytics, Operations, Finance, IS, EDW, Data Governance and analytics enablement team to:

  • Enhance database architecture
  • Implement/integrate data automation
  • Align metrics/definitions
  • Develop enhanced controls focused on data integrity

30%| Ad Hoc Analytics & Reporting - includes rapid, high-quality turnaround on ad hoc business analytics requests for Executive Leadership and other stakeholders

Skills, Education and Additional Information ?

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • 5-7+ years of experience in designing and conducting analytics with a focus on developing impactful insights
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Extensive experience in healthcare, hospital, health insurance (payer) or pharmaceutical industries preferred, experience in the context of finance and operations within these industries is highly preferred
  • Experience in writing SQL required
  • Experience with Statistical software including R, Python, SAAS are a plus
  • Must demonstrate both analytical and relationship skills, as this person will be working on highly complex projects at the highest levels of the organization and communicating with the highest level of stakeholders
  • Experience working with complex data sets across claims, lab, financial, clinical outcomes and other groups
  • In-depth working knowledge of decision support systems, spreadsheets, databases, and other software tools
  • Strategic and process-oriented mindset, facilitating detailed and insightful problem-solving sessions
  • Solid communication skills that will provide the ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills including the ability to translate information to a variety of audiences
  • Manage, coach, lead, and mentor team member and inter-disciplinary initiatives participants and contributors
  • Manage conflicting priorities and multiple projects concurrently
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Be flexible and adapt to achieve organizational goals
